Festival of St George 2010
The 4th Festival of St. George from 21st to 25th April was bigger and better than all that had gone before!
We started from the Queen's Birthday on April 21st
St.George's Day fell on Friday 23rd April and that was celebrated in "The Crofton", the "Red Lion" and "The Golden Bowler" with Traditional English Meals and Real Ale. Each of the Pubs were well decorated and Georgie Cross at the "Golden Bowler" had designed a special menu in keeping with the event.
The next morning (Saturday 24th) Stubbington came alive for the biggest event, the St.George's Village Fayre. A whole day of entertainment and fun from 10.00 until 5.00 p.m. celebrating England and all who live in this "Green and Pleasant Land". Once again our old friend Jonathan, the Official Jester of the City of Salisbury, together with his colleague Jamie the Jester were there to entertain throughout the day. Also on hand was Geoffrey Gould with the 'Punch & Judy' Show, Mistress Rosie the Storyteller of Croftonia, the "Devils Jump" Lancashire Clog Dancers, the Nautical Training Corps Band of T.S. Tenacity and The Birnie Boozle Band.
"WEOROD", the Early Medieval Re-enactment Group set up camp to shine some light on 'The Dark Ages' by portraying a Jutish Tribe, the Meonwara who settled the Crofton area around the year 642.
The Festival concluded on Sunday 25th with a superb Cavalcade of Minis, Motorbikes and Scooters who set off at 11.00 a.m. to drive around the local area arriving back in the Village Centre at 12.30 with all flags flying!

Ian Burnside at "The Red Lion" provided live entertainment, bouncy castles and traditional English food and drink.
Nearly 60 Bikers and 20 Mini Car Drivers took part in the ride last year, the 50th Anniversary of the Mini. All of them flying the Flag and many wearing Red & White they rode into Stubbington as modern day "Knights of the Road". The evening was a great success meeting old friends and making new ones, and enjoying the great Burgers at THE RED LION.
